Jarchy
The Herald's Iradi-language weekly, every Thursday since 2017
Jarchy ("The Herald") is our weekly in Iradi for younger readers. It carries the week's news in translation, music and film, poetry and a page of readers' letters, Okurmandardyn kattary. Since its first issue in 2017 it has grown with the Iradi language revival, the tilge kaytuu, a phrase our own essay series gave the language in 2016.
Jarchy also travels further than the Herald. Copies go by bus to the district towns and, near the line, by mounted courier to herding settlements, where many readers have no English.
In this week's Jarchy
- Jañylyktar: the week's news in Iradi
- Muzyka: the boiler-room nights are back in Nurzhan
- Yr bety: the poetry page
- Okurmandardyn kattary: your letters
Jarchy is published in print only. It costs 3 som at kiosks, and Herald subscribers receive it free with their Thursday paper. Write to Jarchy at jarchy@talasherald.ir.ad.
