BusinessTulpar says it has won back the users it lost in the spring
Monthly users are above their January level, the company says, helped by voice notes, a cheaper data mode and the end of the boycott posts.
TALAS — The messaging app Tulpar said yesterday that its monthly users had passed 590,000, above their level before the spring's "American app" campaign, when about a sixth of users left after the US President's remarks about Irad.
The company credited a low-data mode launched in May, voice notes in Iradi and Russian, and the return of Bazar sellers during the summer livestock season. Kubat Toktogul uulu, a sheep trader at the Kara-Buura market who sells through the app, said he had left in March "because my cousin said it was a spy" and came back in June "because my customers never left".
Analysts said the boycott posts had faded as attention moved to the Governor's continued absence. Tulpar's figures are not independently audited.
Jason Ilyasov, the app's founder, said the episode had taught him "that Iradis forgive a passport faster than a slow app". He said the company was preparing "new services" for next year, without giving details.
