NewsKurultai Sets Terms for 2027 Naryn Talks
The clan assembly has instructed its delegation for the renewal of the Naryn schedule and repeated that the clans “know no guests among their own”.
TALAS — The Kurultai of the Iradi Freedom Society, meeting on the Aksay Plateau, has instructed the IAC delegation for the 2027 renewal of the Naryn Water and Power Protocol’s five-year schedule, the Chancellery said in a letter to the UN mission at Kara-Oi.
According to the Chancellery, the delegation is to agree to no new schedule unless the ISEZ is represented by an official able to sign in person, and unless the fund for Toktogul-basin families agreed after the long Kurultai of 2022 continues under it. Delegates said the instructions echoed Bektur Zhumabek uulu’s statement last November that the IAC would “not negotiate with a recording”.
The Department of Public Information said Governor Erlan Toktarov continues to govern from his health retreat and that Lieutenant Governor Aidar Maksat signs on his behalf. It rejected suggestions that the Governor’s recorded addresses are not genuine.
The assembly also condemned remarks made in December by the commander of the Gendarmerie describing Muslims of the Fergana Rim as “guests”. Its statement said the clans “know no guests among their own”. Chubar elders, who joined Sunni clerics in condemning the remarks at the time, supported the wording. The Department of Public Information has said the remarks reflected personal views.
